Jim Moriarty is a registered psychiatric nurse - for the past 20 years he has been working with Helen Pearse-Otene with survivors, perpetrators and family members affected by trauma.

They have recently taken those experiences to the rehearsal room to create a play called 'The Swing' - on at Te Whaea this weekend. Jim talks to Maggie on RadioActive FM's Breakfast.

"Sexual harm and whakamomori or suicide is familiar to some of us - unfortunate that is, that's a reality," says Jim.

"For many, many years I've wanted to have a deeper look at this kōrero. It has been Te Rākau's belief forever that our job as a theatre company...is to bring that hard kōrero into the world of light - Te Ao Marama."
